Service Overview

Paving installation that holds up to Sydney weather, foot traffic, and time

A paved area is only as good as what sits underneath it. Base preparation, drainage, and laying technique matter more than the type of paver. Done right, paving lasts decades. Done badly, it shifts, cracks, and pools water within a season.

Most failed paving in Sydney fails because of poor base preparation. Pavers laid straight onto unprepared ground move under foot traffic, hold water, lift after frost, and develop weeds through the joints. The base is invisible once the paving is finished but it is the difference between a surface that lasts and one that needs replacing in a few years.

Nazscapes installs outdoor paving across Sydney for entertaining areas, courtyards, garden paths, driveways, pool surrounds, and frontage upgrades. We work with concrete pavers, natural stone, sandstone, travertine, bluestone, porcelain pavers, and brick pavers, choosing the right material for the use, the home, and the site conditions.

Whether you need a new entertaining patio, a garden path connecting outdoor areas, a paved driveway, or a complete paving project as part of a wider landscape build, every project starts with a free site visit. We assess the site, recommend the right paver and pattern, and provide a clear written quote covering base preparation, drainage, materials, and laying.

What paving sydney typically includes

Each project is tailored to the site and budget, but these are the core service elements Nazscapes most often delivers.

Outdoor entertaining areas

Paved patios, courtyards, and BBQ zones designed for furniture, foot traffic, and how the area connects back to the house.

Garden paths and stepping stones

Paths, steppers, and thresholds that make movement through the garden feel clear and natural while protecting planting.

Driveway paving

Concrete pavers, brick pavers, or stone driveways designed for vehicle weight, kerb appeal, and long-term durability.

Stone paving

Natural Sydney sandstone, bluestone, travertine, and feature stone selected for character and longevity.

Pool area paving

Slip-resistant pavers selected for wet feet, splash zones, and reflected heat around swimming pools.

Base preparation and drainage

Excavation, compacted road base, sand bedding, and surface falls planned correctly so the finished paving drains properly and stays level.

Edge restraints and finishing

Steel, concrete, or paver edge restraints that hold the paving in place and stop migration into surrounding garden beds or lawn.

Repair and replacement

Repair work for sunken, cracked, or shifted paving, including lifting and relaying sections that have failed due to poor original installation.

Common Questions

Questions about paving sydney

The answers below cover the questions clients ask most often before they commit to design, construction, or staged upgrades.

How much does paving cost in Sydney?

Paving costs in Sydney typically range from $100 to $300 per square metre installed depending on the paver type, pattern complexity, and base preparation needed. Standard concrete pavers sit at the lower end. Premium natural stone, bluestone, and large-format porcelain pavers sit at the higher end. Driveway paving is generally more expensive due to thicker base requirements. We provide a detailed written quote after a free site visit.

What paving material works best for Sydney conditions?

It depends on where the paving is going and how it will be used. Concrete pavers offer the best value for general entertaining areas. Natural stone like sandstone or bluestone suits character homes and feature areas. Porcelain pavers are popular for modern homes and pool surrounds because they stay cool and resist staining. Travertine is a popular pool surround choice. We recommend the right material for your specific project after the consultation.

Can you pave around an existing garden, pool, or extension?

Yes. Most paving projects we do involve working around existing structures, planting, and pools. We can integrate new paving with what is already there, improve the levels and drainage, and create clean transitions between old and new without disturbing the surrounding work.

How long does a paving project take?

A small entertaining area or garden path usually takes three to five days. Larger projects with driveways, multiple zones, or significant excavation typically take one to three weeks. Very large or complex paving projects with retaining and drainage work can run longer. The actual paver laying is fast — most of the time goes into proper base preparation.

What is included in a paving project quote?

A proper paving quote should cover excavation and removal of any existing surface, base preparation including compacted road base and sand bedding, drainage consideration, paver supply, laying, jointing or sand filling, edge restraints, and clean-up. Quotes that only specify "supply and lay pavers" usually mean corners are being cut on the preparation work.

Do I need council approval for paving?

Most residential paving does not require council approval. However, paving that significantly changes stormwater flow, work in heritage zones, large new driveways with kerb crossover work, or paving that affects boundary structures may need council notification or approval. We can advise on this during the site visit.
